Using BLM land free to the public
What is BLM?
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is a division of the U.S. Department of Interior that oversees more than 245 million acres of public lands – more land than any other government agency. This land is free to the public for things like camping; however, there are no facilities or amenities like at a traditional campsite. And always remember to leave no trace!

How do I find public land to camp on for free?
I recommend the site www.freecampsites.net - it's as easy as inputting your destination and searching around the map.
TIPS:
I save a few coordinates on my phone (in my Notes) to have options in case areas are full
I always download offline Google maps to ensure we have access to directions in remote areas (a lot of the time without service)
How do I find places to go?
I rely heavily on Instagram and the people I follow to get ideas of places to go! Once I have a location in mind, I research the location on Instagram, including search related hashtags, and I use Pinterest for sample itineraries. I then look for BLM land and create my own itinerary using Google Maps to plan my days and activities.
