We hiked to the Needle Cirque at Snowbasin Resort and found some untouched powder from the recent storm (easily one of the best runs from this season)! I've skied black and double black bowls before, but only lift-serviced areas. I have never taken off my skis and carried them up the mountain before. To get to this bowl, you enter through the gates above Strawberry Gondola and hike along the backside of Demoisy Peak towards the gate approaching the Needles. It was a little sketchy due to the servere lack of snow, but it was mostly a flat traverse. Then you ride a bit across the bowl until you find your line! It's a typically shaded area that not many people hike to, so we were able to find amazing snow.
If you haven't heard of Snowbasin, or don't know much about the mountain, read some information below:
Snowbasin Resort is an all-season recreation resort, tucked perfectly behind Mt. Ogden in beautiful Huntsville, Utah.
